Obama the Keystone Kop

A little over a year into President Obama’s second term, and the country has suffered through the failed rollout of Obamacare, lost innocent lives in Benghazi, and is now bearing witness to the growing tensions between the U.S. and Russia.

The strained relations with Russia and the growing oil boom has the GOP pushing harder than ever for Obama to build the Keystone Pipeline. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and a majority of Republican’s are calling on the president to approve the pipeline for national security reasons in light of Russia’s energy hold on Ukraine.

President Obama has spent more than two years acting as the Keystone Kop by putting off building the pipeline. It is apparent he is determined to keep America dependent on foreign oil.

The lack of movement on the pipeline is another example of Obama and his colleagues thinking in narrow ideological and partisan terms rather than strategically, and internationally. Sadly, Americans are the ones who are suffering.

According to Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D, “If ever there was a time to approve the Keystone XL pipeline and green light our ability to sell natural gas overseas, that time is now.” Building the Keystone pipeline would move America closer to energy independence, increase our ability to export oil to Europe, and create tens of thousands of jobs where our country need them the most, at home.

Unfortunately for the nation, the Obama administration would rather protect the liberal left’s anti-carbon obsession, then do what’s right and just for Americans and our economy.
